The beginning is near!

Saturday is the day five of us will fly to Portland Oregon to officially begin the cross country bike ride.  We will arrive at about 8pm and spend the night in Portland.  Last week we shipped the bicycles to a shop in Astoria, so "Bikes and Beyond" is holding them for us there.  We'll pick them up on Sunday and ride out to the coast so we can say we began the ride by actually dipping our rear wheels in the Pacific.  Monday is really the first day of riding, and also the first day of the "adventure" where we don't know already how far we'll make it and where we'll be staying.

Today the Richmond Times Dispatch sent a reporter and a photographer for an article that will probably run early next week.  Exciting - more press coverage.
