June 23

West Yellowstone to Grants Village...61 miles. We are in a fancy KOA with loads of amenities including breakfast and a coffee wagon. However, all complained that the KOA campers had too much fun throughout the night and made too much noise for a good nights sleep. We all seemed tense as the rental car and sleeping in had taken us out of our daily routine and each had their own agenda for what was to be some time off in and around Jackson. We agreed to forgo Jackson, WY and just have a leisurely start to this day. We packed up and ran errands in town, returned the rental car, and finally pulled our bikes into the park about 1 pm. We saw elk and buffalo, but not as close as yesterday in the car. We arrived late at Grants Village within the Park, so Dave stood in line to get our tent sites, while we rode up the road to cafe for dinner before they closed. Dave wanted to cook his own dinner. We set up tents, racing darkness, and hung a bear bag as suggested for our protection. We were asleep quickly.
